Career Coaching

Alumni are offered one in-person or virtual career coaching appointment post graduation. Alumni can schedule a career coaching appointment post graduation to receive personalized guidance on:

  • Career Exploration & Strategy: Clarify your goals, identify transferable skills, and explore new industries.
  • Job Search Support: Learn how to tailor your resume, write compelling cover letters, and optimize your job search strategy.
  • Practice Interviews: Receive feedback from a career coaching during a virtual or in-person practice interview.
  • Graduate School Planning: Get help researching programs, preparing applications, and writing personal statements.

Create a Handshake alumni account to schedule career coaching appointments. Appointments are available virtually and in person.

Online Career Platforms

Alumni have unlimited access to the resources below post-graduation:

  • Handshake: Search internship and job postings and connect with employers nationwide.
  • Big Interview: Practice interview skills with AI-powered mock interviews and expert tips.
  • O*Net Online onetonline.org
    • Select find occupations to search by career cluster, and industry or do a keyword search. 
    • Occupation search will provide information on work tasks, education requirements and more. You can also search for jobs in this career area by geographic location. 
    • Complete a short interest assessment to discover careers that align with who you are.
    • Consider the characteristics of your work/personal environment that will bring you satisfaction

Job Search Resources

Alumni have unlimited access to the resources below post-graduation:

  • Career Fairs: Attend in-person events to meet recruiters from top companies.
  • Handshake: Search internship and job postings and connect with employers nationwide.
  • LinkedIn:
    • LinkedIn strategies
    • Search in the “jobs” tab. Be sure that you are “open to new opportunities” (Under Privacy Settings).
    • Utilize this video on how to search for jobs on LinkedIn
    • Try searching for alumni on LinkedIn who are working in locations and companies you are interested in: Search for the University LinkedIn page. Then click “Alumni” just below the headline. 
    • If you can find ASU alumni on LinkedIn with job titles related to what you are looking for or companies you are applying to, start by making a connection with them with  a personalized note. Then, reach out to them for advice regarding your job search. (Never ask directly for a job). This could land your resume on the right desk at the right time.
  • NC Chamber of Commerce: Explore local business directories and networking events. Check the state you are in or hope to be in for networking opportunities. 
  • Small Business Centers: Access resources for entrepreneurship, including mentorship and funding guidance.

  • Sustainable Business Jobs
  • Government Jobs
