Career Curriculum

Did you know that many of our career coaching topics can be included as part of your class curriculum? We would love to partner with you to incorporate these career topics into your existing classes! From classroom presentations to career-related assignments, together we can improve the career readiness of our students.   • Resume Review: Tailor resume to industries and ensure Applicant Tracking System compatibility.
  • Internship Search: Identify and apply for internships via Handshake and LinkedIn and positions found through personal contacts or alumni.
  • Job Search: Identify and apply for jobs via Handshake and LinkedIn and positions found through personal contacts or alumni.
  • LinkedIn Presence: Ensure LinkedIn profile is professional, keyword rich and tailored to student’s preferred industries.
  • Interview Skills/Practice Interview: Help students prepare for all rounds of interviews and ensure students incorporate the STAR behavioral interviewing method.
  • Networking: Provide students with tools and confidence to approach all opportunities to network, including developing an elevator pitch for career fairs and events.
  • Salary Negotiation: Navigate salary requests and negotiations as part of the interview process, help students understand the market value for their experience, education, skills and industry.
  • MBTI Personality Inventory*: Review MBTI results with students and help them understand how their personality may impact career choice and preferred work environment.
  • FOCUS 2 Self-Assessment*: Review FOCUS 2 assessment results, an overview of interests, skills, values and personality, and how these impact career choice.

BUS 2001 | Career Development for Business Students

BUS 2001: Career Development for Business Students is a one credit hour course required for all  BSBA students prior to admission into the Walker College of Business. In this class, students are guided through assignments and exercises to begin their career development work.

  • Creating an ATS-ready (Applicant Tracking System) Resume
  • LinkedIn Profile Building
  • Internship and Job Search
  • Informational Interviewing
  • Cover Letter Writing
  • Practice Interview
