Ways to Engage

Employer in Residence

Every Tuesday from August through September, we will host an employer partner at the Walker College of Business for customizable programming.

These employers will be featured in our weekly student newsletter, reaching over 4,000 outstanding business students from the largest business school in the UNC system. The day's programming can be tailored to suit your recruiting needs. A key feature is the two-hour "Employer Exchange," an open office hours session where students can engage with employers in a relaxed setting. During this time, students can share their resumes, seek advice on applying for positions, or simply chat about what it's like to work in your industry.

Additional programming options throughout the day include:

  • Employer in the Foyer contact tabling

  • Class visits tailored to the majors you are recruiting

  • Lunch & Learns

  • Club visits

Spots are limited, and we aim to represent a variety of industries, so reach out now to secure your date if you are interested.

Career Treks

Career treks are engaging opportunities for WCOB students to expand their knowledge about industries and to explore workplace settings and cultures. It typically involves visiting an employer site within 3 hours of Boone. The main goals of a career trek include networking, learning about industry trends, gaining practical knowledge, and possibly identifying potential job or internship opportunities.

If you are interested in hosting a group of AppState business students at your company, please contact Jackie Garner at garnerjn@appstate.edu to coordinate.

Career treks include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Tour and/or overview of the company

  • A panel discussion to highlight the various roles at the company

  • A small networking or breakout session

Lunch & Learn

Our Lunch and Learn sessions offer a valuable opportunity to engage with business students in an informal educational setting. During these events, employers present an overview of their company, discuss hiring needs, and share best practices for students pursuing career opportunities. Past sessions have included focused topics such as job search strategies and networking techniques.

Would you like to host a Lunch and Learn for a specific group of students? We can assist you in coordinating the event by promoting it and managing student registration. Let us help you connect with the next generation of talent!
